What is Air Pollution?
Air pollution occurs when gases, dust particles, fumes or odors are introduced into the atmosphere, which has harmful or poisonous effects. The common air pollutants are :
-
01
Nitrogen dioxide
(NO2) -
02
Particulate matter
(PM10 and PM2.5) -
03
Ozone
(O3) -
04
Carbon monoxide
(CO) -
05
Sulphur Dioxide
(SO2) -
06
Volatile Organic Compounds
(VOCs)
Nitrogen Oxides and its Harmful Effects
Nitrogen oxide is a collective term used to refer nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide(NO2), which is produced from the reaction of nitrogen and oxygen gases in the air during combustion, especially at high temperatures. And NOx emitted into the atmosphere is harmful to the human body such as coughing, phlegm, respiratory disorders, and reacts with ultraviolet rays and dust to cause photochemical smog and ultrafine dust.
